Shiroor seer feted for his generosity

Speaking on the occasion, Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya said the State government has given special emphasis to quality education. Owing to the special thrust given by BJP led government on education during last four years, Karnataka is in the forefront in the educational field across the country. The government in the current fiscal year is spending the highest budget allocation of Rs 12,284 crore for providing quality education. Apart from this, the private educational institutions in the State are also spending almost equal amount on education, he added.He said because of the joint efforts taken up by both government and private institutions, a total sum of 138 lakh students including from primary level to collegiate and higher education level could pursue their education. There are as many as 2,380 colleges and 31 universities in the state, he added.

Lauding the efforts made by senior Admaru mutt pontiff Sri Vibhudeshatheertha in the field of education, Acharya said the seer never compromised with quality of education offered in all of his educational institutions. The reason why these institutions spread in several parts of the country has not only earned good reputation but also heavy demand for seats, he added.

Speaking after receiving the felicitation, Paryaya Shiroor mutt seer Sri Laxmivaratheertha Sripada informed that his senior pontiff had leased 6.5 acre land to Admar mutt for setting up Poorna Prajna College on lease. Closely watching the progress made by the college in imparting quality education and other educational institutions run by the Council in other parts of the country, he took the decision to donate the land to Admar mutt education management after completion of lease period, he added. Sri Laxmivaratheertha Sripada was presented with golden coated idol of “Kaleeyamardhana Sri Krishna,” a silver plaque, citation and silk shawl on behalf of AMEC by the pontiff of Admar mutt on the occasion.
