Last Updated 10 August 2009, 18:21 IST

Addressing the gathering Moily called upon the party workers to work for the fortification of the party.

“Keep groupism out of Congress. Congress believes in inclusion taking people along. The 11th five year plan talks of ‘Fast and inclusive growth’ of the nation. This concept of fast and inclusive growth has to be applied to Congress too,” Moily said and added that there is lot of strength in the principles and ethics of Congress and the Parliament election result was the proof.

He opined that BJP will not grow and it is only seeing its end and in such a scenario Congress will need to hone up its ability.

He said that the traditional voters of Congress in particular and electoral in general do not want Congress to play caste politics. “By playing caste politics we might gain only few people but lose many. Let us uphold the true spirit of Congress,” he said and added that Congress must come to power right from Gram Panchayat levels and this can be possible only by winning the faith of people.

Responding to the demands of DCC for additional Mangalore-Bangalore train, passport office, setting up of National Law School in Mangalore and ungradation of NITK into IIT, Moily said that as far as train and passport office is concerned it will be done soon but setting up of National Law School in Mangalore is not possible as Law School has already been set up in Bangalore and rules say that one state can have only one Law School.

He said that upgradation of NITK into IIT had been his dream too and he will strive for it. He informed that Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will be extended to Mangalore and four laning works of Byndoor-Talapady will be taken up soon.
