Curtains to a grand spectacle

The nine finalists from the three preliminary rounds were on loggerheads with each other for the big honours of the evening, which was held in Mount Carmel College.

The teams that participated were M S Ramaiah College of Arts and Science, M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology and Mount Carmel College from the north zone; ALT Training Foundation, Baldwin Methodist College and Indian Academy from the east-west zone and R V College of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar School of Information Technology and Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering from the south zone.

The theme for the creative round was ‘I Gen-Y’, one of the theme pages of Metrolife which is all about the youth – their lifestyle, likes and dislikes, college and many other aspects. The finalists showcased a very unique interpretation to this theme, each portraying immense creativity and style.

There were nine different interpretations of the theme making it an endless array of beautiful designs. The dazzling creations in multiple colours and styles showed the brilliant fashion sense of the students. Bright shimmering make-up, magnificent hairdos and props accessorised the teams’ looks on stage.

The judges for the finale were renowned names from the glamour industry. Fashion designers Manoviraj Khosla and Namrata G; actresses Priyanka Upendra and Sanjjanaa and model Irfan Shaik were present to judge the creative round. They were very impressed by the creativity, talent and the looks that the teams had chosen as a part of their theme.

There was also a second round where the students walked the ramp for the brands that have been an integral part of the show. Flying Machine, Tonga Fashion House, Celio, Deepam, John Players, Esprit, Jealous 21, People and Kalanjali were the brand sponsors for the evening. The various teams walked the ramp showcasing the stunning Western
and traditional Indian clothes.

The students of St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science and Mount Carmel College performed beautiful contemporary and Western dances respectively which were greatly appreciated by the audience.

The winners for the evening were Mount Carmel College for their futuristic yet chic look and they won  Rs 64,000 worth gift vouchers. Dayananda Sagar School of Information  Technology won the second prize (Rs 48,000) for their fun-filled interpretation of the lives of young boys and girls, while M S Ramaiah College of Arts and Science won the third prize (Rs 32,000) for their ‘Divinity Inspires’ look.

Two consolation prizes worth Rs 16,000 each were given to Baldwin Methodist College and Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering respectively. Mohamed Azhaam from Indian Academy won the ‘Best Male Model’ award while Bujin, also from Indian Academy won the ‘Best Female Model’ trophy.

They won gift vouchers worth Rs 5,000 each. The evening ended on a ecstatic note as every team went home with something or the other. The Metrolife Fashion Show ended on a great note as colleges across the City showed off how seriously they take their style quotient.
