They alleged that the district manager holds long meetings with middlemen, and remains inaccessible to members. “Even when we sit at the door for hours, he does not show the minimum courtesy of talking to us. He misbehaves with dalit beneficiaries,” Convener S Venkatesh alleged.
The protesters claimed that they had to bribe officials in order to get the benefits of government schemes. Sub-inspector Shivaprasad visited the spot and pacified the angry protesters.
It was only after District Convener of the Ambedkar Development Corporation tendered an apology that the protesters allowed the office to be opened.
