Speaking after receiving the award, Heggade said: “Sir M V was a true patriot. As a student, I remember reading stories of how he invited his friends and relatives for dinner two days before he assumed office as the Dewan of Mysore, and asked them never to return. He did not want them to influence him, so long as he served as a public servant.”

“It would be great if today’s bureaucrats and leaders imbibed such qualities,” he added.
Showering praises on the world-renowned engineer Sir M V, Heggade pointed out how there would be a dearth of skilled labour in the State and urged the government and the FKCCI to train people in the rural areas to meet the shortage in workforce.

“I have just discussed with the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry about identifying artisans in the rural areas and helping them secure jobs in cities,” he said.
