On a weekend of firsts, the band will first perform against the backdrop of the first ever Indian Formula One Grand Prix weekend at the Buddh International Circuit, Delhi after which, they would come to perform for the people of Bangalore.

One of the organisers, F1 Rocks, which is the series of global live music events partnering with Formula One, recently made an announcement regarding this in the City.

Robert Montague, the CEO of F1 Rocks, says, “We are very pleased to announce that ‘Metallica’ will be our headlining artist for the first ‘F1 Rocks in India with Vladivar’ event.

This particular event is groundbreaking for us as we bring a world-class music band together with the world’s greatest motorsport. Together with our commercial partners we look forward to staging this memorable event for music and motorsport fans alike.”

The City has many rock enthusiasts who have been waiting with bated breath since the moment the band members had posted about the performance on their official website. Rock lovers have an additional reason to celebrate as the wait is finally over with the official announcement.

‘Metallica’ was formed by guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich in 1981. Being the 7th biggest selling act in American history, they have received not less than 21 prestigious international awards including nine Grammys.

Hailed as the ‘Gods of Heavy Metal’ and ‘Undisputed Kings of Rock’, their most famous songs that have now become like an anthem for rock lovers include ‘Enter the Sandman’, ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Fade to the Black’, ‘The day that never comes’, ‘Fuel’, ‘Unforgiven’ among others.

The buzz around this first time act is further accentuated by the mystery about who is going to open for the band. Setting speculations aside, Robert Monague, CEO of F1 Rocks explains, that there will be two bands, one of which will be from the ‘Metallica’ family. He adds, “Along with this, the hunt is on, through a four-part reality show for an Indian rock band, which will perform the opening act.”

So come end of October, people in the City can treat themselves to an interesting concoction of ‘Metallica’ as well as all the Formula One, off the track action.
