Big B visits Amar

Bachchan reached AIIMS at 12 noon and spent about two hours in the VIP ward where former Samajwadi Party leader is being treated. According to hospital sources, the two friends became emotional after seeing each other after a long gap.

Bachchan touched Singh’s forehead and comforted him, and said everything would be all right. The superstar also discussed Singh’s medical conditions with the doctors.
The intimate family relationship between Bachchan and Singh had ended abruptly after the latter was forced out from the Mulayam Singh-led Samajwadi Party. The relationship further soured when Bachchan’s wife and then Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan decided not to support Singh.

Singh, an accused in the cash-for-votes scandal, was admitted to AIMS last week. On Thursday, a Delhi court had granted him interim bail till September 19 on health grounds. He was in judicial custody for nine days.

Big B was in Delhi to present the prestigious Bhartiya Jnanpith to legendry Urdu poet Shaharyar and Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily.

Bachchan’s visit came days after Jayaprada’s outburst against Singh’s old friends who are avoiding him when he is trapped in a great trouble. She had broken down while talking to the media and warned that despite being treated badly, Singh is maintaining silence. “At the right stage he would reveal every thing,” the film actress had said.

“The big celebrities whom he had helped, he fought to get them land... the famous people, where are they?” Jayaprada had asked in an apparent reference to Bachchan and his family. The visit is being seen as an image-saving attempt by Bachchan.
