“The value system and the ethics amongst the players are very high, plus everyone is in a positive and happy frame of mind,” the RCB coach said on Thursday evening. “The way the team celebrated Chris Gayle’s birthday on Wednesday really showed the happy mood the team is in. For me, these are signs of good things to come as I believe that a happy and positive team also performs well on the ground.”

In the same breath, he added, “Warriors are a good side and from what I have seen of them, they have the fighting spirit. They will undoubtedly be our strongest opponents in this tournament.”

The South African made it clear that all-round options was the way forward. “I think everyone has a role to play in the T20 game. Apart from players like Mayank (Agarwal) who doesn’t bowl, everyone should be ready to bowl at least a couple of overs. That really gives us a lot of options going into the game. “There aren’t any big injury problems. Though a few of the players have niggles, that won’t be a factor and all are available for selection.”
