Need to take more responsibility: Blizzard

Last Updated 25 September 2011, 16:19 IST

“We are pretty happy at the moment,” the opening batsman told newsmen on Sunday evening. “You just have to have a look, it’s a completely different team to what we have had in the IPL. We are doing the best we can at the moment. I think the middle-order probably could stand up a little bit in the next game and we can all take a little bit more responsibility. We have identified that and also, our fielding can improve. We will come out firing in the next match, yesterday’s was the first game we played as a team. We will only improve for the next game.”

Blizzard and Davy Jacobs, both aggressive batsmen, got the Indians off to a fine start in chase of Chennai’s 158, but fell within 11 runs of each other. “Both of us had an opportunity to bat with Sachin in the IPL and he encouraged us to play our natural game. It just happens that our natural game is to be aggressive. We both did really well against Chennai but in the same respect, we both lost our wickets before the eighth over.

“If one of us gets out, the other one has to bat through the innings. We can really improve on that. We do enjoy the pace coming out of the ball which was good for us early against Chennai.”

Their opponents on Monday, Trinidad & Tobao, have had a break of five days, while the Indians will be playing their second game in three nights. “We have been training for this since we finished the IPL,” Blizzard pointed out. “We have played one game and we have had a day off. I don’t think the one-day break will hurt us too much. We have a light training session now and will have a look at their videos. We will be up and running on adrenaline at the moment after our win last night over Chennai.”
