JOIN USMini Soudha yet to get its due
The Mini Vidhana Soudha was designed with the intention of housing the taluk office. Large rooms and sufficient parking space is an advantage. Now, even buses have started plying on the route.
Then why has it taken more than a decade for the taluk office to be relocated? is the question that haunts many.
According to sources in the taluk office, the present building is not large enough to carry out daily work.
They are now urging for the taluk panchayat building as well. But, the taluk panchayat has rejected the demand outright saying that they have been in the building for decades and there is no reason to vacate.
They say, the Mini Vidhana Soudha was built specifically for taluk office, so why ask us for building space.
Ryots’ complaint
Meanwhile, several farmers complain that the present taluk office is located near deputy commissioner’s office, zilla panchayat and superintendent’s office.
This helps them as they don’t need to travel long distances.
However, they demand that nada office, taluk office, sub-registrar office and treasury offices should be together as it would help the public get income and caste certificates as well as pension at one place.
Different version
While several people are for relocation of taluk office to Mini Vidhana Soudha and many are against the move, taluk office employees suffer the worst.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, tahsildar K Mathai said: “Recently, various departments had arrived in Bangalore for a meeting.
Working in toilets
When I informed them that the taluk office employees are sitting in toilets and working, many of them laughed about our condition.
But, it is the truth. What can we do if we aren’t given basic facilities?” he questioned.
Helpful for employees
He said if the taluk office is moved to Mini Vidhana Soudha, it would immensely help both the public and employees as the rooms were spacious and help in addressing the problems of the public.
Ready to move
If officials concerned give us an order to move to Mini Vidhana Soudha, we will do so immediately, he added.
About, 10 years back protests were held against relocating the taluk office as there was no bus service to the location.
But, now buses ply regularly on the route and it wouldn’t harm the people, he added.
