The minister was, however, quick to add that these were his personal views.

The March 25, 2011, note sent by the Finance Ministry to Prime Minster’s Office (PMO) detailing the discussions on the 2G spectrum allocation at the time when Chidambaram was holding finance portfolio in 2007, has prompted the opposition to demand the resignation of Chidambaram, now holding home portfolio.

“I have seen the note. I don't think the note has anything on which we should express worry,” Khurshid told newspersons here.
‘Summary’

He claimed that inferences made from the document were not correct. The note was actually a “summary” written by a lower level official, P G S Rao—deputy director in the Finance Ministry— to Vini Mahajan, joint secretary in the PMO.

The covering letter to the note also said that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had seen the document.

“People give their opinion over and above the summary. The importance of the opinion will be seen when the issue is discussed,” he said.

The law minister said since the matter was sub judice, judging the issue was not appropriate.
