Going on yatra as I'm jobless: BSY

Last Updated 26 September 2011, 18:07 IST

Dismissing the criticism from the Opposition parties that the Yatra was meant to gain people’s sympathy, Yeddyurappa said: “I do not have any work at present. Being the son of a farmer, I cannot sit idle at home. Hence, I plan to start a yatra to understand farmers’ problems and bring it to the notice of the government.”

The ‘muhurtha’ for the yatra is not fixed, but it will be launched from Gulbarga and in the first phase will tour the entire north Karnataka districts, he added.

Yeddyurappa even invited politicians from JD(S), particularly MLC Basavaraj Horatti, to join him for the yatra and submit a joint detailed report on the development projects to be launched in the districts.

When questioned about the Lokayukta report, Yeddyurappa refused to comment, saying: “Scores of cases on my alleged involvement in irregularities are pending in various courts.

Therefore, it will not be suitable to comment on the issues.”
