Tribute to Tagore

She was one among the ten children who sang the songs of Tagore at Geetanjali, a programme organised by Deeksha Sangeet Academy last weekend.

Debjani Dutta, a Sangeet Bhusan award winner and the teacher of Oorja, directed the programme and sang songs in Bengali and Hindi. Tagore’s poems were selected based on the Hindustani ragas. “Tagore had selected tunes from all the states of India and we want to bring them back to every one,” said Debjani. “The songs of Guruji (Rabidranath Tagore) belong to a different gharana and that’s rare. This programme is to try and make the next generation understand about his philosophy,” she added.
