KPCC president G Parameshwara said at a press meet here on Wednesday that the Speaker had not been discharging his duties ‘impartially.’ He said there was no justification for holding back the resignation for 23 days and urged the Speaker to accept it without any further delay.

KPCC vice-president B  K Chandrashekhar questioned the silence of the Speaker on the issue and said the latter was answerable to people of the State.

He further said the Union Government has released Rs 8.50 crore to be disbursed as compensation to farmers who lost arecanut crop to yellow leaf disease. The funds released by the National Horticulture Mission would help rejuvenate or replace the affected arecanut palm. Each affected farmer would get Rs 30,000 per hectare to replace the disease-hit arecanut with banana, clove, pepper or other crops.

The Congress party will launch 'Mathadaararondige Mukhamukhi' (an interaction with voters) on October 2 at Chitradurga. It will continue till January next year. It will be held in all the 46,000 odd booths in the State.
