Hitting back at the BU Council’s statement, Siddaiah advised the Palike to keep own house in order before pointing finger at others.

Siddaiah’s reaction came during the BBMP Council on Thursday following a report in Deccan Herald highlighting the angst of BU Council members, who decided to repair the road using BU’s funds.

For the past one year, the road has been in a bad condition with huge potholes. Many had complained about this to the BU authorities, the BBMP and reported it even to newspapers.

But nothing had been done.

On Wednesday, the BU Council led by Vice Chancellor N Prabhu Dev passed a resolution to repair the road at BU’s expense. However, the resolution left a bad taste in Siddaiah’s mouth.

While replying to complaints of Hampinagar ward corporator during the Council meeting, Siddaiah said the road inside the BU does not belong to the Palike. But as the public use the road daily, it decided to asphalt the road. Subsequently an action plan of Rs 12 crore was prepared, he said.

‘Our alma mater’

“Special Commissioner Niranjan and I visited the spot and decided to asphalt the road, since this institution is our alma mater. We prepared an action plan and were waiting for the State government’s nod since the road does not belong to us. But we never knew that we would get such a reward from BU, which passed a resolution to teach us civic sense,” said an upset Siddaiah.
