Master plan for development of women's college

The government has sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for infrastructure: MLA

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Bhat said that government will sanction required funds for infrastrure development in the college. Government had sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for the development of the institute, he said adding that Rs 40 lakh was already released.

A separate building will be constructed to accommodate the DEd Institute functioning in the college premises, he said and assured that the building will be completed soon.
Further he congratulated the students and teachers of Balmatta Government Women’s PU College for achieving 100 per cent result in SSLC and 90 per cent result in PUC. Bhat also lauded the efforts of teachers of Car Street Government PU College for achieving 84.54 percent result in PUC with 97.08 per cent in Commerce stream.

First in the district

Balmatta Government Women’s PU College is the only government institute which secured 100 per cent result in the SSLC examination 2008-09, Bhat said. Similarly it also has topped achieving 90 per cent result in PUC, he said adding that no other government institutes in the district could achieve this.

Bhat said that while all the 69 students have passed the SSLC examination, 4 secured distinction and 34 bagged first class in the institute. In PUC, 5 students bagged the distinction while 168 passed with first class, he added.

Balmatta Government Women’s Pre-University College School Development Committee member K Thejomaya, Principal Elvira Philomina and Car Street Government PU College Principal Joseph were  present.
