IGICH Director-in-charge Dr Govindaraj said that boy was already in a serious condition when he got admitted at the Institute. "The boy had internal bleeding, though we started transfusion of platelets, he could not recover", said Dr Govindaraj.

He added that his blood samples were drawn and was sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, results are still expected.

Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has termed the rising cases of dengue as sporadic. “With a population of 80 lakh people, 86 cases are quite sporadic,” said a official. The cases, according to the Palike, are spread uniformly across the city and have no epicentre.
