'Revive co-op sugar factory'

Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday he said government is least bothered about the farmers who have been left in lurch due to closure of Brahmavara Sugar factories.

He said Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda who is representing Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha
constituency should immediately release Rs 10 crore for its revival. “State government is releasing crores of funds unnecessarily for organisations and institutions. The overall debt of the the Co-operative sugar factory may not exceed Rs 10 crore,” he said.

Parameshwar expressing his apprehensions alleged that his party is smelling misappropriation of funds in the Varahi project similar to that of Bhadra Upper Channel Project.

During last two to three years, Rs 200 crore has been released by Yeddyurappa showing total money spent on the project as Rs 350 crore as against the completed work of only 25 percent.

As the congress party is doubting misappropriation of funds,  he said KPCC demands the government to immediately order a detailed probe into the entire proceedings of the project by a competent authority after setting a up special technical inquiry committee, he added.

He said the government should follow a set of guidelines when it comes to Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). He said the sentiments of the local people over environmental concerns should be taken into account, he added.
