Shanq, a musical troupe based in Bangalore, will present Moh’ko Kahan Dhoonde, a unique concert combining spiritual music with story-telling and drama. The event will be held on the evening of August 22 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium.

Shanq has been performing such theme-based programmes live and on television. According to Nivedita, the lead singer and the spirit behind Shanq, the roots of the troupe are deeply entrenched in the tradition of Indian classical music. This provides Shanq with the depth and the expanse to perform different genre of music, from the classical to the contemporary.

Shanq has earlier put up such distinctive performances like a one-hour TV show dedicated to the martyrs of 26/11 and which was telecasted on the Republic Day. The troupe had also conducted a  concert for 6,000 school children of Bangalore and former President Dr Abdul Kalam.

An ethos of India’s heritage of spiritual music is the association of saints, their lives, tribulations and glory. Moh’ko Kahan Dhoonde will take the listeners through the life and music of some of the saints composers — making it both entertaining and enlightening for the audience.

Tickets for the show are available at K C Das, Church Street. For details, call 9845192823, 9880463262.
