The haadi which is situated close to Nagarahole National Park has seen herd of elephants unleashing havoc. Tribals Janaki, Ranga, Bolla, Boju, Ramesha, Shivanna, Lingappa and many others have lost their huts due to attack of a heard of wild elephants which includes two tuskers, two female elephants and one calf.

While the elephants have eaten away rice, pulses and other food commodities they have destroyed vessels and thrown away clothes in the huts. The tarpaulins supplied by the Panchayats to cover the huts during rainy season have been torn by the elephants. The bamboo barks used to build the walls of the hut have been rooted out by the elephants.
Dalimbekolli haadi has 14 tribal families dwelling, of which seven huts have been brought to ground. Remaining seven have been partially damaged by the rogue elephants.

The residents say that when they seek help from the officials they ask the victims to shift from the haadi to Hunasur taluk’s Lakkapattana-Shettihalli rehabilitation centre. If they go to the GP members for help the members say that they are helpless as the haadi comes in national park limits. The residents are awaiting help.
