Meanwhile, the Ramanagaram district administration has sought clarification from the Election Commission whether they have to register case against ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, Venkataramanappa and MLA Muniraju for staying put in Channapatna constituency even after 5 pm on Sunday.

JD(S) workers in Channapatna had gheraoed the ministers and MLA alleging that they were campaigning even after 5 pm, the deadline to wind up campaigning for the by-poll. Ramnagaram deputy commissioner K J Jagadeesh visited the spot and asked them to leave the constituency.

Jagadeesh said there was no evidence to prove that they were campaigning after 5 pm. He had sought clarification from the EC whether to register a complaint for staying put in the constituency. He would follow the EC’s directions.
