'Maintain peace, communal harmony'

In a press release, Superintendent of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao said that a gang has been functioning in the district which is involved in desecrating temples and prayer halls purposely, to incite violence in the district.

Stating that the police would take steps to prevent any such incidents in future, he assured that the police would arrest the culprits who have been involved in desecration of places of worship and thus incite communal violence in the district at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the members of the public have been asked not to heed to any rumours and to help the police in identifying the miscreants who are involved in such acts.
 “The leaders in the society and elected representative have been supporting the police department in maintaining peace,” he stated.

The police department can not deploy police personnel at each and every place of worship in the district, he said and appealed to the management of the places of worship to appoint personnel for its security. In wake of Ganesha Chathurthi, Ramzan and Navarathri festivals, the members of public have been urged to maintain peace and order in the district.
