Two students killed in accident

The duo was proceeding towards Chhill when a cab rammed their mobike

The victims have been identified as Nagendra and Madhu, both aged 20 years. They were studying in final year B Com at JSS College of Arts, Science and Commerce on Mysore- Nanjangud road here. They were also friends, sharing space in a rented room in Agrahara here.

Both hailed from Chamarajanagar district. Madhu’s father is working at forest department in Bandipura in Gundlupet taluk.

The mishap occurred around 1.15 pm when the duo was going towards Chamundi Hill after attending viva of practical exams at the college.
 
A local tourist cab coming from the opposite direction allegedly rammed into the two-wheeler while negotiating a curve on the road, killing its rider Nagendra on the spot. Madhu, riding pillion who suffered grievous injuries was rushed to a hospital, however, he succumbed at around 4 pm.

A friend recalled Madhu was fine till he vomited blood and died instantly in the hospital. “I am fine and nothing will happen”, this was what Madhu had said when he was given tender coconut at the hospital.

Police said that the curve located close to a small bridge constructed on the stretch, calls for a cautious drive/ ride. The vehicles coming from either side cannot even get an inkling of vehicles coming from the opposite direction. The cab driver fled after abandoning the vehicle, said a policeman. Lashkar traffic police have registered a case.

Pedestrian fatally hit

A pedestrian was fatally knocked down by an unknown vehicle near chatrimara in Nazarbad on Thursday.

Kumara (40) son of Jawara Nayaka is the deceased. A native of Mandya, he was working as a driver of goods autorickshaw here. The incident occurred around 7.30 pm when he was walking towards KSRTC sub-urban bus stand. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Lashkar traffic police are investigating.

Man dies

In another incident that occurred on Lalitha Mahal road a man who had suffered injuries in a hit and run case on September 1, succumbed recently.

The deceased who still remains unidentified was knocked down by a KSRTC bus. He succumbed at K R Hospital five days ago. Police suspect that he may be a gorkha.

Bus cleaner nabbed

After four months, Mandi police have finally succeeded in nabbing a bus cleaner who had decamped with the heavy vehicle five months ago.

Venkatesh of Palahalli, Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya district is the accused. He had lifted the bus when the vehicle had been parked in the private bus stand on June 20. Mandi police who had registered a case, had traced the bus in Bangalore later. However, the accused had remained elusive. He was apprehended on October 28. The police team was led by Inspector C Kiran Kumar including sub-inspector Mahadevaiah and others.
