4,645 cops to ensure fair by-polls

ADGP (Law and Order) Infant said, the police department has deployed as many as 4,654 police personnel of various ranks for security purposes, including four SPs, 20 DySPs and ACPs, 37 Circle police inspectors and police inspectors and 336 SIs and ASIs. About 33 platoons of KSRP are deployed and 180 mobile parties will be moving in the constituencies.

Five companies of Tamil Nadu State Armed Police force are also deployed, of which two have been deplo-yed to Govindrajnagar and one each to Chittapur, Kollegal and Ramanagar/  Channapatna constituencies respectively. About 250 City Armed Reserve and District Armed Reserve personnel are deployed in Ramanagara district. In all there are 1,110  polling booths in these 5 constituencies, of which 670 are hyper senstivie, 330 sensitive and 110 normal. Till date, the police have registered two cases for unlicensed arms, arrested 586 persons as a preventive measure, seized Rs 5.69 lakh unaccounted amount, registered 38 cases for Excise Act violation and seized excise material worth Rs 8 lakh.
