Officers from the CID, who arrested Prasanna nine days ago and took him to Bangalore for interrogation, brought him back to Bellary on Friday. He was taken to his house and the various departments at the VIMS and interrogated  further.

With his CID custody ending on Saturday, officers produced him before the Judicial Magistrate First Class court on Saturday evening and appealed for an extension of his custody for further investigation.

Arguing his own case before Judge M B Kulkarni, Prasanna raised objections about the treatment meted out to him by the CID officers and broke down before the judge.

He said the officers insulted him by taking him to VIMS handcuffed. He appealed to the judge that in case his custody is extended, then further interrogations should be carried out in the presence of his advocate.

He claimed that the CID officers abused him verbally during interrogation and threatened to kill him in an encounter.

After listening to the arguments, the judge remanded him in judicial custody till November 8. Prasanna broke down in front of the media while boarding the vehicle to be taken away to the district prisons. He appealed to the media to refrain from writing “biased” reports against him.
