Rs 10 crore released to develop major roads

He was speaking after flagging of road works worth Rs one crore here on Saturday. He further said that Rs 10 crore released by the government to develop major roads in the city, has been distributed to initiate various related works.

Road widening work will be undertaken from Mekke Circle to new bus stand and from National Highway 4 to Terahalli Betta Road.

In the first phase, road work in Rahmath Nagar has been taken up. Besides, shop vendors on M B Road will be taken into confidence before going ahead with the widening work here.

However, road works will be taken up once the work on UGD is completed, Varthur added.

Since the Yaragol Project will be launched soon, pipeline work will be undertaken at various places in the city and Rs 24 has been kept aside for the purpose.

The minister further said that land owners in Bellambari and Veerapura will soon lodge a complaint of land encroachment with the Lokayukta against a former minister.

City Municipal Council commissioner R Shalini, councillors Nazir Ahmed and others were present.
