This place stinks to high heavens

Owners of poultries dump the wastes on either side of the hilly path, especially at the curves, thereby filling the entire surroundings with a foul smell.

Pedestrians, vehicle users, morning and evening walkers, students and daily wage workers who take this road everyday are having to hold their noses as the garbage dump nears. The worst sufferers are the students and daily wage workers from places like Teralli, Shivagange, Paparajanahalli and Hosahalli.

The stench begins to affect the nostrils right from the Teralli foothills. Women and the senior citizens who use the road for their morning and evening walks are these days opting to skip this routine.

There is garbage even near an ancient tower en route. Thus half the trudge on the path to the hill has become an abominable experience for the people. “We used to go on our walks on this path having a pleasant atmosphere. It is difficult to bear the stench when we go on our morning walks,” says Narayanaswamy, a farmer from Paparajanahalli.

The people are also having to put up with the problem of broken glass pieces on the steps starting at the foothills. Several youth who consume liquor break the bottles and litter the place with the glass pieces.

“It is scary to use this stretch amidst people who consume liquor at the spot between 5 pm and 9 pm, especially on holidays. There is no one to discipline them and this must be stopped,” say the students and labourers using the road.

The place falls between the jurisdictions of the City Municipal Council and the Kondarajanahalli Gram Panchayat. It is high time that the authorities concerned take steps to put an end to the misuse of the area, say the people.
