Tata Motors launches Tata Sumo Gold

The Tata Sumo Gold has been conceived and designed keeping in mind the needs of the young & progressive customer, who is looking for a stylish, new-age vehicle that is powerful and takes on any terrain with ease, the company said.

Launching the Tata Sumo Gold, Tata Motors Vice President, Commercial - PCBU (Passenger Car Business Unit), R Ramakrishnan said, “The Tata Sumo Gold is a result of extensive consumer studies and field tests. The product has been designed to fulfil various requirements, long-awaited by the new generation customer.”

At the heart of every Tata Sumo Gold, lies a growing engine that thumps out vicious power and the customers have the choice of two engines according to the need for driving experience, acceleration, power and an torque aided pick-up & pull power.

CR4 Turbo-BS4: Symbolising a new elevated state of automobile engineering, the all-new CR4 Turbo engine brings fresh blood to a lineage of powerful engines. This 2956cc determined powerhouse delivers an output of 85Ps @ 3000rpm and a torque of 250Nm @ 1000 to 2000rpm, with a mileage of 14.7 kmpl.

Di Turbo BS3: Bringing years of know-how to a lineage of power is the Di Turbo engine. This 2956cc engine is all-muscle, generating an output of 70PS @ 3000rpm and a torque of 225Nm @ 1600 to 2000rpm. Its sheer size and heft makes the Di Turbo the largest sized diesel engine. This engine delivers an impressive mileage of 14.3kmpl.

The Tata Sumo Gold has an imposing poise, broad stable stance and a visual blitzkrieg of stylish body graphics. A new headlight design works in tandem with a prominent tail lamp cluster, high power forward and rear fog lamps, to light up the path. A renewed front grill, wide rear with a clean back and a spare wheel below the cabin, add not only to its dominant presence but also to its functionality. Large 15’/16’ wheels with wide 215 mm/185 mm radial tyres and a high ground clearance of 190 mm completes the Tata Sumo Gold’s aggressive looks.

The Tata Sumo Gold is as refined on the inside as it is muscular on the outside. A leather wrapped steering wheel, with hydraulic power assistance, puts the driver in absolute control. A stylish centre silver console and a dashboard are thoughtfully located so that reaching out for them is almost instinctive. Plush fabrics add a touch of sophistication, to the spacious interiors, as excellent head, leg and shoulder space makes room for all passengers.

The modern HVAC, with easy to reach controls, latest music system, power windows and an engine immobiliser with a key, makes every drive comfortable, secure and entertained. The new Tata Sumo Gold is being launched in 4 variants - GX, EX, LX & CX - along with a warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 kms, whichever is earlier. The Tata Sumo Gold range will be available from Rs 5.23 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Pune).
