CA Security Manager Sean Carroll will head the unit. He was appointed as CA's inaugural Security Manager in May and is a former Victorian Police officer.
Apart from its presence at the venues of domestic matches, the CA ASCU will administer the educational program for all players involved in Australia's domestic cricket competitions and provide education sessions for staff in CA's betting and anti-corruption policies.
"CA's new ACSU will preside over the Bupa Sheffield Shield, Ryobi Cup and the newly-formed KFC T20 Big Bash League. The ICC's Anti-Corruption Security Unit currently oversees international competitions and will continue to do so," a CA release said.
CA CEO James Sutherland said the establishment of the ASCU is a further strengthening of cricket’s commitment to protecting the integrity of the game and its resolve against corruption.
"Betting related corruption is a significant issue to sport in general and Cricket Australia is determined to institute measures that safeguard the integrity of our sport," Sutherland said.
"There has been no evidence of problems in domestic cricket but we want to move proactively on the basis that vigilance and constant education is critical."
