Drought relief work to begin within two weeks

Hoysalotsava planned between Dec 21 and 25; Belur, Halebeedu and Hassan to play host

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Jagadish said all the legislators have given proposals about the work that has to be undertaken in their constituencies. The total revenue needed is Rs six crore and the district administration has Rs two crore. The government has been urged to release another Rs four crore.

Engineers have been told to submit proposals for the work to be undertaken with the Rs two crore funds available with the district administration. Apart from the Rs two crore, he said Rs 1.40 crore would be set aside for providing drinking water.

Mentioning that the district is facing shortage of fodder, he said export to other districts has been banned.  The animal husbandry department has submitted a proposal to the state government urging for release of Rs 25 lakh so that seeds can be sown in unused government land to overcome the shortfall.


The chief secretary has been informed of the shortage and if the government releases funds, then seeds would be sowed in unused gomala lands.

Hoysalotsava
The district administration is preparing to host Hoysalotsava from December 21 to 25.
The district in-charge minister has been informed and the district administration is awaiting his approval.

The department of Kannada and culture has been urged to grant Rs one crore for organising the festival. A preliminary meeting would be held on November 21 to take suggestions from elected representatives.

Various sub-committees would be formed based on the inputs given by elected representatives.

Programmes would be held in Belur, Halebeedu, Channarayapatna and Hassan during the festival.

Translocation of jumbos
Translocation of 25 elephants from Alur taluk would be delayed as the court has opposed the move and advised the government to take the opinion of experts before taking any decision.

He said experts from Kenya would be roped in for giving their suggestions to the issue.

Report against Dy SP
The tahsildhar’s complaint against deputy superintendent of police has been taken seriously and an explanation has been taken from the latter.

A detailed report has been sent to the chief secretary. We are awaiting the government’s decision, he added.
