Setty, who is the fifth accused in the first private complaint filed by advocate Sirajin Basha, sought anticipatory bail on Friday, stressing that the role played by him was less grave than that of Yeddyurappa, his sons, and son-in-law, all of whom were granted bail by the High Court on Thursday.

Being a diabetic, he deserved bail as the former chief minister has already been granted one, Setty said. The High Court will hear the matter on November 22. The High Court will pronounce orders on November 21 on a criminal petition filed by S Muniraju, the BJP MLA from Dasarahalli S Muniraju who has sought quashing of a private complaint charging him with land grab.

Justice B V Pinto heard both the parties  on Friday and posted the matter for passing orders on November 21. Puttaswamy had filed a private complaint before the Lokayukta court accusing Muniraju of illegally transferring 21 guntas out of 1.5 acres of land owned by his mother-in-law Mallamma in Yeshwanthpur hobli. He alleged that Muniraju had fabricated documents to grab the land.

Besides Muniraju, Puttaswamy has named S Ranganath, a former Bangalore North Taluk Tahsildar, Revenue Inspector Suresh among others.  Acting on the complaint, the Lokayukta court directed the Lokayukta police on November 2 to probe the matter and submit a report on November 19.
