3 anti-graft bills to come up in winter session

Disclosing this at a press meet here on Friday, Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasami said along with the anti-graft bill, the Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Persons Making Disclosure Bill, 2010 (the Whistleblower Bill) and the Right to Citizens’ grievances redressal Bill will also be placed before Parliament.

Narayanasami said the Lokpal bill was being studied by the Parliamentary Standing Committee. He hoped the Bill would be passed by Parliament before the end of the winter session. Asserting that the Bill would be a strong one, he said this was a commitment given by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. A sense of the House was also taken in this regard.

The Grievances Redressal Bill has received wide response from the public as it was put up on the website for people’s reaction. As regards the Whistleblower Bill, the minister said he has written to all the chief ministers seeking their views on the issue.The Bill has been sent to an inter-ministerial committee, he said.
