Expert says HR is fulcrum of innovation

“The global economic gloom is certain to affect all the regions, be it the Euro zone that faces the challenges of failing economy or US that has the largest unemployment since the great depression,” Shaw said, delivering the keynote at the valedictory function of the National HRD Network Conference which concluded in the city on Saturday.

“We in Asia are also getting affected by the economic recession, which has slowed down our growth. These are very tough times and we can find answers only through our spirit of innovation.”

She said innovations at all levels, from incremental to evolutionary, experimental and breakthrough, could help us fashion an inclusive economic model and take full advantage of the demographic dividend. “Human Resource professionals have a greater role to play both in organisational and employee-level innovation,” she said.

Addressing the function, NHRDN national president S Y Siddiqui said the conference addressed aspects that marked the changing role or HR in the modern organisations. He also said that the next year’s conference will be hosted by the Hyderabad NHRDN chapter and will be followed in 2013 by Kolkata in the eastern region. Earlier, speaking on the session ‘Charting your own destiny’, Ma Foi Randstad Chairman K Pandiarajan said the idea of co-creation is vital for creating thought leadership in HR.

“Almost 2,000 people would have left our organisation since its inception about 19 years ago. We take the exit seriously and make it as cordial as possible. All those who have invested and worked in Mafoi have become our well-wishers,” he siad. The conference also awarded b-school students who have won prizes in their online quiz competition, besides drawing to a close on the student sessions as well on Saturday.
