<p>The Youth Photographic Society organised a function at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to mark the conclusion of a two-day photo exhibition of monuments of the State at Hanumanth Rao auditorium here. <br /><br />Historian Suresh Moona distributed Askary awards instituted by the Askary Foundation, to two budding young photographers. <br /><br />Arjun Haarith, a student of SJBIT Engineering College won an award in the ‘Wildlife Photography’ section while software engineer, Deepak Kumar, was presented an award in the ‘Travel Category.’<br /><br />At a function organised at Annapurna auditorium in Basavanagudi, the Akila Karnataka Video and Photographers Association presented the ‘Chayarathna 2009’ awards to eight professionals.<br /><br />Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Subramanya, Basavanagudi MLA hailed the role of the photographers. He said, “Photography is a wonderful art and plays a vital role in recording history.” Actor and producer Shivaram said that viewers of a photograph always tend to be carried away by the aesthetic appeal of a good picture. “There is much hardwork put in by a photographer to create that piece,” he observed. The Chayarathna award winners are as follows: Kashinath, N K Girish, B V K Murthy, Vasudev, Edwin, Jawan Mull, S Ramakrishna and B V Sudeendra.<br /></p>
