Photographers honoured

The Youth Photographic Society organised a function at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to mark the conclusion of a two-day photo exhibition of monuments of the State at Hanumanth Rao auditorium here.

Historian Suresh Moona distributed Askary awards instituted by the Askary Foundation, to two budding young photographers.

Arjun Haarith, a student of SJBIT Engineering College won an award in the ‘Wildlife Photography’ section while software engineer, Deepak Kumar, was presented an award in the ‘Travel Category.’

At a function organised at Annapurna auditorium in Basavanagudi, the Akila Karnataka Video and Photographers Association presented the ‘Chayarathna 2009’ awards to eight professionals.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Subramanya, Basavanagudi MLA hailed the role of the photographers. He said, “Photography is a wonderful art and plays a vital role in recording history.” Actor and producer Shivaram said that viewers of a photograph always tend to be carried away by the aesthetic appeal of a good picture. “There is much hardwork put in by a photographer to create that piece,” he observed. The Chayarathna award winners are as follows: Kashinath, N K Girish, B V K Murthy, Vasudev, Edwin, Jawan Mull, S Ramakrishna and B V Sudeendra.
