“Lokayukta is an important institution and I have personally explained this to the State government. Give me Hegde’s name and I will approve it within a minute,” Bhardwaj told reporters after attending a function to mark National Disaster Reduction Day.

Hegde, speaking at a function in a church earlier, said: “Under no circumstances will I take up the post of Lokayukta again in my life. When I joined it, I was clean; now people are making allegations against me. It is very sad there is not a single judge without blemish to head the ombudsman.”
