“The filmmaker-cum-businessman has been asked to leave the country within 72 hours as the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card issued to him stands withdrawn by Home Affairs Ministry,” Superintendent of Police (foreigners’ branch) Tony Fernandes said.

However, Sterry, who married Raut five years ago, claimed that he was being victimised. “I am being victimised by my wife and the Indian government which has revoked PIO card without following due process,” Maxwell said soon after receiving the deportation order at the SP office here.

Maxwell’s marriage with Raut is on the rocks after the supermodel moved a family court in Mumbai for divorce.

“My wife is using India as a ground to file divorce otherwise she is never there in the country. She goes around with four to five bodyguards which she says have been employed due to threat from Indian public,” he alleged. The efforts to contact Ujjwala Raut at her Goa residence in Aldona village yielded no results. The trouble between husband-wife duo has been brewing for quiet sometime now.

The UK-national, who produced a film titled ‘The Bunker’ with Jason Flemming and John Carlite as its cast, reportedly gave up his career and shifted to India in 2005 after Ujjwala delivered a baby girl.

“I want to fight the case in Indian court and stay back as I have to take the custody of my three-year-old daughter. I have been a good father and I will try to get the custody of my daughter,” Maxwell said.
