Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Association President Ramesh Joyappa said “it is better to make the plan after taking the expert opinion. The purpose of shifting the bus stand is to control the traffic and accidents.”

He said “the density of vehicles are on rise day-by-day. If the bus stand is shifted to the land belonging to Agriculture University, there are all possibilities of increase in the number of accidents. Where are the smooth ways for the movement of vehicles,” he sought to know.

Accident possibility
The possibility of accidents near Raja Seat is more as several students move in the region. “In the interest of the public, we are opposing the move to shift the bus stand. It is better, if the bus stand is constructed at Chikkapete region,” he added.

Violation of rules
Coming down heavily on the unhealthy competition by the KSRTC, he alleged that more than 80 KSRTC buses are plying without license in the region.

Joyappa said the rules of Motor Vehicle Act are being violated by the KSRTC buses. SP, DC and RTO should initiate action aginst KSRTC for violating the rules. “KSRTC should introduce more buses to rural areas,” he said.

Flaying the deplorable condition of district roads, he said there are no roads in South Kodagu. “Within a year, the roads have been spoiled. No attempt has been made to blacklist the contractor who was responsible for laying the road,” he said.
Association Vice President Bopanna, Directors Annappa, Poonaccha and others were present.
