The six, belonging to a rival gang, allegedly murdered rowdysheeter Velu on November 29 while he was on his way after attending a "Bhajan session" of Lord Ayyappa, with a friend and his three year-old daughter, they said.

The leader of the other gang and some other associates are still at large, they said
Lethal weapons used in the crime like chopper, logs and an autorickshaw were seized from the accused.

The two main accused were also earlier involved in the murders of retired Superintendent of Police, Thammaiah and Velu's brother, Subramani, they said.

The six, arrested on December 2, were produced before a local court yesterday and remanded to judicial custody, they said.
