'Govt wooing Tamilians by water release'

He alleged that the ruling BJP has released water to please Tamil speaking population in Bangalore ahead of the BBMP elections. The water has been released sacrificing the interest of farmers of Karnataka, he alleged.He further alleged that the government has released 4.94 tmc ft of water to Tamil Nadu in June, 38.71 tmc ft in July and 24.20 tmc ft till August 20. The government should have consulted farmers in the Cauvery basin before taking the decision to release the water, he said.

The government had held a cabinet meeting in Gulbarga last year also. It had taken 15 major decisions to develop Hyderabad-Karnataka region then. The CM should disclose the status of these projects, before holding another cabinet meeting in Gulbarga, JD(S) Spokesperson Y S V Datta said.
