Held by the degree students of the college, the proceeds from this fest went to charity. The degree block was abuzz with students with not an inch of space to move around as girls from all classes came to try out the different dishes on sale. Be it ‘Peanut Masala’ or Pav Bhaji, ‘Coke Float’ or Chilli Paneer, the girls unleashed the budding chefs in them as they prepared a number of delicacies.

Each class had come out with something special. For instance, the students of Communicative English of first year BA had prepared a number of items like ‘Veg Manchurian’, Sweet Puchka, ‘Crunchy Banana Roast’ and Kurkure Chat to name a few.

“It’s been a great experience to prepare dishes for this fest,” said Darshana, a student of this class. “We were told about this fest a few days ago and anyone could cook anything of their choice,” informed Shilpa, another student of the same class. While the Manipuri girls from first year BA prepared Sinju, a traditional spicy snack. “You prepare it by adding a lot of vegetables like onions, spring onions and cabbage to bhujia,” explained Tanuja, a student.

“It’s a traditional Manipuri dish and a lot of people liked it,” she added. And while the delicacies were being dished out, there was a party happening on the stage. This was a dance party organised by the ‘Dance Club’ comprising final year BA students. An enclosed area on stage packed to hilt, this had the students letting their hair down and dancing to current hits like Chammak Challo and Why This Kolaveri Di. The ‘cover charge’ for this event was a mere Rs 10!

“It’s great to see the students enjoying like this. There is no investment involved but a lot of fun comes out of such events in return,” exclaimed Naureen, a lecturer of communicative english.

To sum it up, it was a worthwhile experience for the students who not only had a great time organising this fest, but also raised funds for various good causes while doing so.
