JOIN USGirish’s partially charred body, wrapped in a nylon mat was found in the basement of a commercial complex on Dinnur Main Road in RT Nagar limits on Monday morning.
Girish, 25, a native of Gulbarga was staying at the basement of the complex. Police said that Girish was a chain smoker and he may have forgotten to stub the cigarette butt before falling asleep. The plastic mat he was sleeping on caught fire and Girish suffocated to death after inhaling the poisonous gas.
Police found no external injuries on the body and are waiting for the victim’s relatives before completing the autopsy formalities. It is yet to be ascertained if he was under the influence of alcohol.
Two found dead
Two people allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Peenya locality on Monday. Mamatha, 23, a resident of Peenya VI Stage, was found hanging at her residence. Police said Mamatha was married to Shivalinga Murthy, a habitual drinker and the couple had a eight-month-old daughter. Police suspect that she may have committed suicide due to her husband’s addiction to alcohol.
In another incident, Anupama, 24, a garment worker and wife of Madhu, was found hanging at her house in Vidya Nagar. The couple were married for three years.
Police said that Anupama was depressed after she was diagnosed with multiple health problems.
