He was speaking after inaugurating the fifth state-level convention organised by KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation in Hassan on Tuesday.

Though there are lakhs of workers in the country they are forced to fight for their rights as the governments and district administrations have been showing high handedness over the farmers.

Gupta also alleged that KSRTC had tried control the union and also to stall the convention, which failed due to strength of the union. The government and administration should realise that the labourers union have the strength of calling for a bundh if thier attitude continues.

The hard work of the farmers goes into the hands of the middlemen due to anti-labour policy of the government and their favour to the investors, he added.

The workers have to rise to the occasion and fight against corruption. Gupta also appealed to the workers to extend their cooperation to the national-level movement that would begin from February 28 putting forth their various demands.

CPI State secretary Siddanegowda Patil, NFIRTW president Dr B Ramdas, KSRTC SWF general secretary H V Ananthsubbarao and others were present.
