Modi on Wednesday morning asked the party workers to remove all the hoardings which were put up ahead of his one-day Sadbhavna fast on December 18 in Surat.

“Read in papers about some inappropriate hoardings put up by BJP workers in Surat. In a democracy, we must avoid such acts and respect each other,” he tweeted. Modi had earlier called Sonia Gandhi the Italian cow and commented that Rahul Gandhi was the calf who had no value.

The hoardings put up at various crossroads in Diamond city, were political caricatures which ridiculed the prime minister, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi about the opening of the retail sector.

A hoarding on Manmohan Singh reads: “Manmohan, why are you silent? You are a Hindustani.”
