The Karnataka Utsava, which was launched here on Tuesday, featured a three-day food festival, which had mouth-watering cuisine from all over the State. This was accompanied by special cultural performances including ‘Yakshagana’ and ‘Puja Kunitha’.

The Utsava was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna. Similar festival will be organised in other parts of the country including Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkota and Kochi in the coming days to showcase culinary specialty of the State, Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy told reporters here.

This festival is being organised to display Karnataka’s rich heritage, cultural traditions, scenic spots and cuisine to attract more tourists.

Silver Chariot

To attract budget travellers, Karnataka Tourism Department is planning to launch Silver Chariot package on the lines of Golden Chariot soon.

Unlike Golden Chariot, where tourists travelled in the luxury train, in Silver Chariot  tourists will be travelling in Volvo luxury coach. The Tourism Department will prepare a tailor-made package targeting budget travellers particularly aiming on group tourists, said the Minister.
