Workers to get flats as New Year gift

Delhi Minister of Industries Ramakant Goswami on Friday directed the DSIIDC to issue allotment letters in respect to 1,991 flats to eligible applicants as a New Year gift for the industrial workers of the City.

The direction was issued by Goswami in a meeting which was held to review the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme for Industrial workers. Speaking to mediapersons, Goswami stated that the allotment letters will be handed over to the allottees by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in a function to be organised after draw of lots. Over 11,000 applications have been received by the DSIIDC for different categories of dwelling units at Narela, Bawana and Bhorgarh. The Corporation has completed the construction of 1,511 two-room dwelling units and 480 one-room dwelling units which are being offered at reasonable prices i.e. much lower than the prevailing market rates.

The Housing Complex has been developed with all the necessary infrastructure including well planned roads, drinking water, drainage, sewerage and street lighting. As part of the Corporation’s motto of sustainable development, the housing project also offers rainwater harvesting, green area, parks and sewerage treatment facilities. “The Corporation will display list of all the eligible applicants in different categories on its website www.dsiidc.org. The corporation has reserved 17.5 per cent for SC applicants, 7.5 per cent for ST, 1 per cent each in favour of physically challenged industrial workers and in favour of widows of industrial workers,” said Goswami.
