Brahmakamalas

These photos were taken on the evening of August 18th in North Brunswick, New Jersey, just the four flowers were about to bloom. As the evening progressed the flower bulbs were getting bigger, then a heavy rain storm knocked down the planter causing the stem of one flower to break. Obviously that one did not bloom fully. I am not sure whether it is a rare phenomenon to see two flowers from the same leaf. By morning the flowers had closed and started to wilt. Now we have to wait for a whole year to see more flowers which last just a few hours. Photos and text by Jayaprakash North Brunswick, New Jersey
