Soon pre-paid mobile customers can also get an itemised bill from service providers on request and at a price not exceeding Rs 50.
“To ensure that pre-paid consumers get an itemised usage of their account, the service providers have been mandated to provide the same within 30 days to the consumer on request and at a reasonable cost not exceeding Rs 50,” said the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
Trai in its “Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations, 2012” gave the latest direction to service providers to protect the interests of pre-paid mobile customers.
According to Trai, 96 per cent of the consumers fall in the pre-paid category now. And these consumers, unlike their post-paid counterparts, do not get any bills for their usage or the amount charged.
Further the “Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations, 2012” also said the consumer can also get the details of the tariff plan, available balance in the account and details of any value-added service activated on the telephone number at any time from the service provider, free of charge.
