<p>Pontiffs from 29 branches of Chitradurga Murugha Mutt led by Shivamurthi Murugha Sharana participated in the river rafting programme. <br /><br />4 km raft<br /><br />In fact, the programme was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports based on Murugha Sharana’s request. Sharana had participated in the rafting programme earlier also. Pontiffs crossed 4 kilometers rafting through river to reach Tata Estate. <br />Speaking to reporters, Sharana said that the programme was organised with an objective to introduce the adventurous river rafting to other pontiffs. <br /><br />River rafting also empowers mind, in addition to giving physical exercise, he said.<br />Youth should also be encouraged by the programme, he said adding that sports makes one’s mind balanced.<br /><br />He said that pontiffs have to live within the limits of a Mutt. Hence, this kind of programmes necessary to refresh their minds, he added. <br /><br />Rafting chief Shivanand, General Thimmaiah National Adventure Sports Academy convener Jithendra Shetty and Youth Services and Sports Minister’s private secretary Suresh were present.</p>
