The Taluk Unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat has designed several programmes intended to spread the spirit of Kannada language and culture in Malur taluk in Kolar district, which borders Tamil Nadu.

The taluk unit will also organise various programmes at hobli and village level.
As part of its continued efforts to popularise Kannada language, literature and culture, the Kannda Sahitya Parishat has decided to conduct a special programme every month.
For the past two years ‘Ugadi Geeta Gayana Sambrama’ has been providing a forum for youths to exhibit their talent.

Kannada literary quiz, seminars, lectures and cultural programmes are also conducted to strengthen and re-kindle interest in Kannada.

The Taluk unit has been celebrating the birth anniversaries of renowned litterateurs Da Ra Bendre, Kuvempu, Masti Venkatesh Iyengar and other luminaries in an effort to revive interest in literature among the mass.

A poet’s meet too was conducted at Masti, the Jnanpith awardee’s birthplace, as part of the birth anniversary celebrations. Literature books were also distributed at various programmes of the Parishat.

As part of the Parishat’s efforts, a street in Malur has been renamed after D V G. The Taluk unit is also planning to create a bust of D V G at Mulbagal, the poet’s birthplace.

Famed writers and critics of the State Dr Sumathindra Nadig, Dr N S Lakshminarayana Bhat, Karnataka Sahitya Akademi award-winner L Hanumanthaiah, Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy, Lakshmipathi Kolar, Mavinakere Ranganath, Masti's grand-daughter Usha Kesari, Kotiganahalli Ramaiah, J G Nagaraj and others lauded the efforts of the taluk unit.
