Chief minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a vascular laboratory and school of Hepatology at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences.
The laboratory will test blood circulation in human body while the new teaching centre incorporates the study of liver, gall bladder, biliary tree, pancreas as well as management of their disorders.
“One must be aware about the symptoms of liver disease as these diseases are more fatal than AIDS. One out of five persons may be at risk of liver disease and the number of affected persons may be around six crore in our country,” said Dikshit.
The rate of fatality in such diseases is 400 times more than AIDS.
